I
am Wieke de Rijk (1979). I work as a freelance website designer.
Would you like to get a (new) website, don't hesitate to contact me!
I have been around pets my entire life, among other cats, rabbits,
dogs, mice, hamsters and fish. The cattery clearly is a hobby gotten
out of control.
Besides the cats I really like yoga and swimming. I also practice
reiki a lot which is often used on the cats.
Cattery:
Our eldest Norwegian Forest Cat is born in 1998, our cattery name
is registered in 2000 and our first litter is born in 2003.
The cats are our family members, they can go freely trough the entire
house and we also enclosed a piece of garden for them to enjoy themselves.
All our cats are checked by our vet regularly and they are vaccinated
yearly. Our breeding cats are also checked yearly on FiV, FelV and
HCM (also PDK and PL, but that has to be checked once). If a cat
retires after a breeding carrier he/she will of course stay with
us.
Our cats are fed healthy and naturally according to the 'BARF' principle
(Bones and Raw Food).
Because we think it's very important that kittens born in our cattery
grow up to be sweet and healthy cats we like to know the material
'behind' the cat.
We dig out pedigrees, often many generations back. Besides that I
have followed several courses and seminars about diffrent subjects:
- Responsible breeding
- Cat behaviour
- Kitten socialisation
- Cat genetics
- Reproduction of the cat
- (Eurly age) neutering
- Responsible feeding
- Aspects of law when breeding
My goal is breeding healthy and sweet Norwegian Forest Cats who resemble
their 'wild' ancestors as close as possible in looks and behavior.
The cattery name is written in old Irish/Gealic and can be translated
like magic forest or enchanted forest.
